Nepali Driving License Attestation/Verification

The Embassy of Nepal, Canberra informs all concerned applicants processing Nepali Driving Licence Verification/Attestation through the Embassy that the Embassy does not issue or renew Nepali Driving Licences. The Embassy only verifies the authenticity of the licence by checking the relevant record through the Department of Transport Management (DoTM), Nepal"s online system.

Please bring the following required documents in person or send these documents to Embassy by post.

Required Documents

  • A duly filled application form (click here)
  • Copy of Nepali Driving License or Print Copy of the online record from Department of Transport, Nepal.
  • Copies of Citizenship and passport
  • Fee: AUD 75 (If you send documents through Post, send us Money Order/Bank Cheque in the name of "Embassy of Nepal, Canberra")
  • A self-addressed Express (trackable) return Envelope (In case of sending documents through Post)
  • In case of old driving licence if not shown in Online Driving License System of Nepal, Verification letter issued by the Department of Transport /Transport office and attested by the Department of Consular Services, Kathmandu is required. URGENT NOTE: As per the latest information received from DoTM, the DoTM online system is currently under maintenance. Applicants are requested to ensure that any of the following documents must be provided to facilitate the verification process while the DoTM online system remains under maintenance.

  1. Driving Licence displayed in the Nagarik App;
  2. Driving Licence record displayed on the website of the respective Provincial DoTM/Transport Office;
  3. Payment receipt for the Driving Licence; or
  4. Driving Licence holder"s name appearing on the officially published list.

Note:

  • If there are any discrepancies of details in between driving licence and passport, instead of above application form you need to send an application letter explaining the discrepancies of details, along with other above documents.

  • Processing time is around 7-10 working days once the Embassy receives the documents from post. In case urgency, bring the documtns in person on any office day before 12pm, it is attested on same day.
