Nepal established diplomatic relations with Australia on 15 February 1960. Following the decision of the Government of Nepal, constituted after the success of historic Peoples’ Movement 2006, to have a residential embassy established in Australia, the Embassy of Nepal came into being in March 2007. The establishment of a residential embassy in Canberra underscores the importance of evolving multidimensional relations between Nepal and Australia. The Embassy is located in Australian Capital Territory (Canberra), the national capital of Australia.
